Dentist on Trial for Boyfriend's Murder: Full Opening Statements

The trial against Suzanne Mericle began on Wednesday. She is facing malice murder and felony murder charges after allegedly shooting her boyfriend, James Barron, through a bedroom door at their home in Gainesville, Georgia. The state says Mericle shot her boyfriend and then staged the crime scene to look like he shot at her. The defense claims she acted to protect herself, ultimately firing a gun through a bedroom door.
