The Queeny Backyard Ultra

Hello, my name is Nicholas Steel, and I’m on a mission to become the youngest person ever, and one of very few, to complete 30 100-mile foot races in a single calendar year! The Queeny Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultramarathon; also known as a last person standing event. On this course, runners complete 4.19 miles every hour, on the hour, to earn the chance to continue to the next yard. In this race, I covered 59 yards (59 hours), earning the assist to the last person standing. This year brought a wide range of challenges, from constantly changing weather, to deep mud pits, to fallen trees across the course. It turned into an eventful weekend, running from Friday through Monday. This race was part of a bigger goal for 2026, and I pushed it to the point where I started to question whether I’d be ready to race again just 12 days later.. Truly pushing the limits of a human body. That’s 5 of 30 100-milers for 2026.
