Royal Albatross ~ ĀWHEO DISCOVERS THE CAM & Gardens All Around It! Beautiful Sunset Wingers 8.5.26

Āwheo leaves his nest and he paddle walks towards the cam. While at the base of the cam, Āwheo will do some gardening and spread the grass over his shoulder and then look directly at the cam! Āwheo is an industrious albatross chick as he works pulling up the grass for quite a while. Then Āwheo walks over to the cam cables and he decides to check them out! Beautiful photo op moments of him! Āwheo then gets up and stretches his wings as he walks back towards his nest. The sea is calling to him...he stands gazing looking at the endless ocean, his destiny is calling to him. Soon Āwheo will be ready to fly on his endless journey, soaring above the ocean in his new home. Young albatross spend several years away feeding in South American waters after they fledge. They will not touch land again until they return back to the colony in 5-8 years to begin searching for a mate! Fledging will begin in September for the chicks! Thank you for watching!
