In the first teaching of the 2026 Nyingma Summer Seminar, (Hinayana section, July 11, 2026), Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche starts with the stress of modern life. Worry and stress arise in the mind, as mental feeling (Tib. "yi-tsor"), and they spread into the body, our work, and our practice. Exercise, diet, and distraction can help for a while, but they don’t reach the attachment and fear at the root. Rinpoche shows how to recognize gratitude as a real experience felt in the heart center, and how to remember it when it’s needed. He presents refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha as a practical choice, like hot water or modern sanitation. He talks about meeting illness and hardship as purification instead of punishment, and about looking at the worldly examples we copy in our search for happiness. Drawing on Shantideva, Patrul Rinpoche, and the 16th Karmapa’s words “Nothing happens,” he points to the Four Immeasurables and bodhicitta as both the path to happiness and happiness itself. He also introduces natural nirvana, which is always present and needs only to be woken up to. Recorded at Mangala Shri Bhuti. #DzigarKongtrulRinpoche #TibetanBuddhism #Bodhicitta #Meditation
