Caught on Tape: Fortepianist's SHOCKING Response on a Metronome Question

Students recorded a World-Famous Fortepiano Player's response to a simple question about Metronome Marks. What followed was a minute-long word salad—a rambling answer filled with some of the most incredible nonsense you can imagine. Fortunately, someone thought to hit record. But here’s the real issue: how can a teacher—a professor at conservatory level—be so afraid of simply saying, ‘I don’t know’? Or, at the very least, state the available options? In the HIP (Historically Informed Performance) world, there’s a responsibility to stick to the facts, especially with something as straightforward as a metronome mark. Yet his answer strongly suggests he knows about WBMP (Whole Beat Metronome Practice). So, is this ignorance, or something else? Personally, I don’t think so.
