Ingredients list & written recipe down below! 👇 You guys, today I’m sharing my mom’s absolute secret recipe for the ultimate taro paste! It is incredibly creamy, perfectly sweet, and literally universal—you can put it on desserts, or use it for all your baking needs. The secret to keeping it silky smooth even when cold is the perfect blend of veggie oil and unsalted butter. Plus, don't miss the chef's tip at the end on how to reuse the leftover flavorful oil for the best fried rice ever! If you enjoyed this family recipe, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and SUBSCRIBE for more homemade goodness! ❤️ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 🥣 INGREDIENTS: • Pre-peeled Taro : 1500g (about 3 lbs) • Vegetable Oil: 2 cups • Unsalted Butter : 50g • Sugar : 600g (about 3 cups) • Salt : 1/2 teaspoon (tsp) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 👩‍🍳 QUICK STEPS (精簡作法): 1. Check pre-peeled taro for any bad spots and shave them off. 2. Slice into chopstick-thick slices so they steam through faster. 3. Steam in a Tatung rice cooker with 2 cups of water in the outer pot. Rest for 20 mins after it pops. 4. Give it a rough mash, leaving some delicious chunks for texture. 5. Cook 2 cups of veggie oil first to get rid of the raw flavor, then melt 50g of unsalted butter in it. 6. Turn the heat down to low, scoop out the oil, leaving just 2 tablespoons in the pan. 7. Dump the mashed taro in and stir. Once it cooks down, add 600g of sugar. 8. It will get watery as the sugar melts—keep stirring! Add 1/2 tsp of salt to bring out the sweetness. 9. Pour back a splash of the reserved butter oil, and stir for 30 minutes until thick and clumps together. 10. Turn off the heat, transfer to a bowl, and enjoy! 💡 PRO TIP: Save the remaining 1 cup of flavorful butter oil in the fridge. Use it for hibachi fried rice later—it is next-level delicious! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- #taropaste #tarorecipe #momrecipe #bakingsecrets #easyrecipe #asianfood #hibachifriedrice #tatungricecooker #homemade #cookingvlog
