Pastor Matt Patton calls the church to keep their eyes on Jesus in the “Stop Everything and Pray” season. From Asa and Jehoshaphat he shows that seeking God’s face is the only safe response when we do not know what to do. Is Jesus enough? 00:09:59 - Service Starts 00:17:40 - Praise and Worship 01:04:03 - Congregation Prayer | Pastor Matt Paton Pastor Matt Patton leads City Church deeper into the season of stopping everything and praying, calling the congregation to fix their gaze fully on Jesus. Drawing from Psalm 27, he reminds the church of the one thing David desired: to dwell in the house of the Lord, behold His beauty, and seek His face. Using the contrasting stories of King Asa and King Jehoshaphat from 2 Chronicles, he shows how Asa began well by seeking God but later turned to his own strength, while Jehoshaphat faced an overwhelming army and prayed, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” In a time of intentional uncertainty and discomfort, Pastor Matt invites the church to return their eyes to Jesus, repent of distraction, and ask whether Jesus is enough even when programmes, structure, and familiar elements are stripped away. The gathering then moves into extended corporate prayer, with people seeking the Lord for personal renewal and for the church to stay fixed on Him. The message is a clear call to obedience: when God says seek His face, the only right response is to keep our eyes on Him.
