In the late summer of 1919 a young woman from Sunderland moved into a rented cottage above Caswell Bay, on the Gower coast in south Wales. Her name was Amy Stuart, though the stage knew her as Mamie, a dancer of twenty-six who had come west with the man she believed was her husband, George Shotton. By the first week of December she was gone. Her trunk surfaced at a Swansea hotel, her rings were left behind, and the steady letters she wrote home to her parents simply stopped. What had happened to the woman above the bay? A new forgotten British case every few days. Subscribe so the next one finds you.
