Malolos Historic Town Center. Featuring Don Jose Bautista House & Palacio Real de Sto. Nino

The town (now city) of Malolos in Bulacan is one of the historic places in the Philippines. It is the birthplace of the First Philippine Republic and features numerous architectural landmarks that reflect its storied past. Within the Historic Town Center, there are dozens of well-preserved ancestral houses dating back from the Spanish colonial period. However, you can only appreciate them from the outside as most of them are private. Recently, with the assistance of the local tourism office, we got a chance to go inside the two of these well-preserved mansions: the Don Jose Bautista House and the Reyes-Tantoco House (which is now the Palacio Real de Sto. Nino).
