No More Long Walks for Water | Kabita Praja

Across rural Nepal, women and children are disproportionately affected by limited access to basic water and sanitation services. They often spend hours fetching water, face safety risks when accessing sanitation facilities, and are more vulnerable to waterborne diseases. Kabita Praja, a resident of Deutis, Makawanpur, was one of them—until Elevate Nepal built taps and toilets for every household in her village. She shares how she once had to walk long distances for water and how the rainy season made life even harder, with muddy, unsafe water and frightening journeys in bad weather.
