In 1902 an archaeologist in Athens noticed a gear wheel set into a corroded lump of bronze from a Roman shipwreck. The Antikythera Mechanism turned out to be a hand-cranked Greek instrument that modelled the Moon's uneven motion, kept a calendar and predicted eclipses. This video follows the wreck, how the lump was decoded with X-rays, what the dials did, and what is still argued: who made it, when, and how its front showed the planets. Where something is only a theory, the video says so.
