We borrowed a 32ft class A motorhome — a 2011 Forest River Georgetown — to test if we could actually live with a big flat-front rig on our quest to find the perfect RV, and drove it to camp fimfo in the Texas Hill Country. If you're researching a class A motorhome , renting an rv , or wondering what it's REALLY like to borrow an older rig, this no-filter rv tour is for you. This strange life adventure started rough — dead battery, rotted awnings, sticky steps that wouldn't come out, and a fridge that only the freezer wanted to work. Then the real test began: navigating that huge flat front through Wimberley on the first day of school while I was convinced Ken was half an inch from every mailbox, trash can, and tree on my side of the road. We share the honest behind-the-scenes of driving scared, parking this 32-footer, and figuring out slides and auto-levelers that had minds of their own (user error — we had to turn the motor off!). Once parked we give you the full rv tour — kitchen and counter space, bedroom, little bunk beds we're using for storage, 61,000 miles, and why the seller's asking $39k "as is" has us saying we probably won't buy this one. Plus a look at camp fimfo itself — voted #1 campground in America by USA Today 2026 — from campground Americana, music, and golf carts to waving neighbors and whether we felt stable on a flat site without levelers down. We are so grateful we got to borrow it — it's the perfect example of how things break on these all the time and what you'd actually have to fix if it were yours. We are Ken & Yvette — owners of Spoon Mountain Glamping, our luxury glamping resort on 3 acres in Wimberley, Texas. We built it from scratch and love sharing what we learn about hospitality and the great outdoors.
