2026 Toyota Hilux Review - I finally drove the much-anticipated 9th generation model of the Hilux, launched in India at a starting price of Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 4x2 AT variant. The model tested, however, was the top-end 4x4 AT, which costs Rs 36.69 lakh (ex-showroom). I drove it across a variety of conditions including rural roads, semi-urban stretches, broken roads, off-road trails, and highways to find out whether Toyota improved its ride quality which was already one of the strongest aspects of the eighth generation Hilux. In this review, I explain why the Hilux still may not make sense for many buyers. Despite that, it continues to sell in large numbers across the world. India, however, hasn’t been that market thus far. But the reason it sells in huge numbers globally is its legendary durability, reliability and most importantly, the emotional connection people have with the Hilux. I have tried to cover all of these aspects in this review.
Note: The test vehicle was provided by Toyota Kirloskar Motor during the Hilux media drive in and around Jaipur. This is a purely editorial video.
