Before USS John F. Kennedy was commissioned, roughly 400 sailors moved aboard a carrier the shipyard had not finished handing over. This is what that daily life actually looked like. From contracted yard meals and temporary lighting to standing watches in certified spaces beside active construction zones, the pre-commissioning crew was not waiting for their ship. They were building it from the inside. Late 2025 through early 2026, Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia. CVN-79, Gerald R.
