An American Tableau, for Orchestra Taylor A. Goodson, ASCAP Premiered September 5, 2026 Performed by Nate White and the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra Recorded by Phil Clifford About the Work On July 4, 2026, the United States of America celebrates 250 years as an independent nation. "An American Tableau" is written to celebrate that occasion with popular American melodies from the Revolution of the 1700's through the turn of the 20th century. A gentle beginning with references to the "Star Spangled Banner" ushers us into "Yankee Doodle" of the Revolutionary War, a British song turned patriotic anthem. From there, we venture to the Civil War for the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," a song of the Union from the mid-19th century. George M. Cohan's "You're a Grand Old Flag" from 1906 follows suit before we return again to the field of battle with the "Battle Flag of Freedom" which leads us to the work's conclusion with additional reference to the National Anthem. "An American Tableau" is dedicated to all who celebrate the achievements of this young nation and to all those who have given their lives to fight for it. This work is written in honor of my grandfather, Rolland D. Taylor, whose love of United States history has forever passed on through his family. Discover this and more by visiting: tgsounds.com
