Improve your balance and walking confidence in just 20 minutes using the Japanese 3x3 inspired method. Choose standing with April or follow Mom for the fully seated version. This 20-minute routine is designed to help you stay steady and strong, improving your cardiovascular fitness, balance, coordination, stability, and confidence with everyday movement. In this Japanese 3x3 workout, we alternate 3 minutes of gentle balance exercises with 3 minutes of low impact walking for three rounds. It’s a fun way to combine cardio and balance training in one workout while allowing you to choose the pace and movements that work best for you. ⭐ WORKOUT FORMAT • 3 minutes balance • 3 minutes brisk walking • Repeat for 3 rounds • Gentle cooldown We'd love to know which version you're doing today—let me know in the comments if you're standing with me or seated with Mom! During the balance intervals, we’ll practice movements including side and forward taps, weight shifts, cross-body toe taps, back taps, knee lifts, clock taps, and narrow-stance balance work. During the walking intervals, we’ll gradually increase our pace while keeping the movement low impact and controlled. 00:00 Why do this workout? 00:47 Warm Up 03:59 Side Taps 05:06 Forward Taps 06:07 Weight Shifts 07:08 Brisk Walk (Ramp Up Your Heart Rate) 10:07 Cross Taps 11:06 Back Tap 12:06 Knee Lift & Pause 13:07 Brisk Walk (Energy Boost) 16:06 Clock Steps - Right/Left 18:06 Heel-Toe Balance 19:12 Brisk Walk (Final Push!) 22:11 Cooldown I’ll demonstrate the standing exercises while Mom completes the entire workout seated. If you’re standing, keep a sturdy chair nearby and use one or both hands for support whenever needed. Remember, using support is part of smart balance training! During the brisk walking intervals, choose a pace that feels energetic but controlled. You should still be able to say a short sentence.
