Everglades Wilderness Waterway

Solo kayaked the 100 mile Wilderness Waterway in Everglades National Park over 8 days in February 2017. Other than the few fishing boats and handful of other paddlers I saw, I was completely removed from civilization. I usually camped on chickees, which are wooden platforms raised up over the water like a dock. I only saw a few gators and one crocodile, but I saw dolphins every day, one even swam alongside my boat and was so close I could have touched him with my paddle. Unfortunately I didn't get footage of that. One of the highlights was camping amidst palm trees on Highland Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and I made it a point to see the sunset every night, even if it meant paddling to a good viewpoint. One of the longest, most extensive adventures I've ever done.
