Tiny Meerkats, Big Challenge | Alcohol Ink Art

After a week away on vacation, it felt so good to be back in the studio! I chose two little meerkats for this alcohol ink background, thinking their smaller size might make this painting a little quicker. I was wrong. 😂 Tiny animals mean tiny features, tiny fur details, and much smaller brushes—and they ended up taking just as much time as some of my larger subjects. I named this one On the Lookout. I love the story between these two: one standing watch while the other peeks up from below. For this piece, I used alcohol ink markers, brushes, Q-tips, and 99% isopropyl alcohol to add the meerkats while preserving the shapes and movement of the original abstract background.
