STUDIO 1 - THE SYMPHONY

Gesture, Sound and Reactive Visuals – Studio 1 WIP Created by Nirnaya Lamsal This project explores the connection between gesture, sound and real-time visuals using TouchDesigner. The idea started from my interest in electronic music, immersive visuals and interactive spaces. I wanted to create an experience where the audience is not only watching the visuals, but can also directly affect them through movement and sound. Throughout the project, I experimented with point clouds, delayed video effects, particle systems, bloom, feedback, hand tracking and sound-reactive visuals. The current work uses hand gestures to control musical elements such as synth pitch and chords, while the visual particle system reacts and distorts according to the movement and sound being created. The visual style was inspired by cosmic and plasma-like patterns, including the atmospheric effects seen around SpaceX Starship launches. I wanted the particles to feel like energy rather than a normal video image, so the body becomes more abstract while still remaining connected to the performer. This is still a work in progress. I am currently developing the connection between gesture, sound and the immersive particle effect so the person playing it can feel like they are part of the visual environment. My future goal is to expand this idea into larger projection-based installations and eventually into a 3D or VR space where people can communicate and interact through sound, gesture and animation.
