“The unravelling after trauma” — A Therapist's Analysis of The Vampire Lestat: Montreal

Welcome back to episode 6 of my passion project! 🖤🩸 Join me as we dive into Episode Six, where we explore Lestat’s unravelling, Louis’ grief, and Claudia’s devastating confrontation with her past. Through a trauma-informed lens, I unpack the psychology of survival, identity, vulnerability, guilt and unresolved trauma, exploring what happens when the protective layers we build to survive finally begin to fall away. From Lestat’s nesting dolls of identity and his struggle to confront the trauma beneath his carefully constructed personas, to Loustat’s growing vulnerability and the possibility of post-traumatic growth, this episode explores what it means to finally let ourselves be seen. We also delve into Louis and Claudia’s complicated relationship, examining grief, idealisation, accountability and the painful reality that love doesn't always mean we truly understand the people we love. As always, these videos are my own interpretations as a senior therapist specialising in trauma-informed practice. They're not intended to diagnose fictional characters — just to explore why these stories resonate so deeply with us. I'd love to hear your own interpretations in the comments (book readers and show-only watchers alike!). Just remember to hide any future spoilers. 🖤 Find out more about me here: https://linktr.ee/sheilafables I got my Loustat tshirt here: https://manythings-shop.fourthwall.co...
