The Wandering Ensemble shared a work-in-progress run of the piece SUKA NOVA as part of the HOUSE OF SPIRITS: Festival of Ancestral Connection at CSU East Bay on 10/30/26. (This was also the "midterm" for the Ancestral Performance course.)
SUKA NOVA is a taiko song created collaboratively in an intensive led by Shoji Kameda, Emily Harada, and Elias Chanteloup as part of the 2026 Taiko Block Party presented by KaDon.
The Wandering Ensemble is an inclusive performance group that is simultaneously part of Dandelion Dancetheater and the CSU East Bay Theatre and Dance program, directed by Eric Kupers. We create together all year long with students, alumni, community members, and professional artists with and without disabilities and from radically diverse cultures/identities. Our version of SUKA NOVA includes dance being created by the ensemble members as well as a poem by Jewel Mathieson.
We'll be working on SUKA NOVA all year, and are planning to include it as part of Act II of "Parable of Belonging" in May 2027.
