Toucan Acrylic Painting Step-by-Step Tutorial

Learn how to paint a colorful toucan with acrylic paint in this easy step-by-step tutorial. This painting features a bright yellow, orange and red beak, detailed blue-black feathers and a simple dark green tropical background. Suitable for beginners practicing acrylic blending, feather textures, leaves and bird painting. Materials: 300 GSM acrylic paper or canvas Acrylic paints: Black, White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Phthalo Green Sap Green, Blue and Burnt umber Flat brush for background Medium round brush Small detail brush Palette Water container Tissue or paper towel Pencil and eraser Step1:- Cover the background with dark green and black. Step2: Block the branch with dark brown and add lighter brown and cream highlights. Paint the leaves dark green first, then add lighter green along the edges and center veins. Step3: Paint the head, wings and tail with black. Leave the throat area white. Add the red-orange patch around the eye and red feathers near the tail. Step4:Start with yellow on the upper beak. Blend orange through the middle and red-orange toward the lower edge and tip. Add the black markings after the base colors dry. Step5:Use white mixed with a tiny amount of grey for the shadows. Add brighter white highlightswith short feather-like brushstrokes Step6: Paint the eye black, add blue around the iris, and finish with a small bright white highlight to make it look glossy. Step7:Use white mixed with a tiny amount of grey for the shadows. Add brighter white highlightswith short feather-like brushstrokes. Step8:Strengthen the brightest yellow, orange and red areas of the beak. Add thin highlights to the feathers, leaves, feet and branch. And that’s it!
