Hannum Program Notes: Written in 2018 for the Portland Wind Symphony, Odds and Unevens is labelled “a short transformation for Wind Ensemble”. Beginning and ending the piece is a through-line of a stuttering single-pitch motif in the vibraphone, which serves to transition each section. The piece is evocative of the music of John Adams, whose music has been an influence on Hannum’s musical upbringing.
