The Jaguar Land Rover AJ126 3.0L Supercharged V6 cooling-system overhaul continues with removal of the supercharger from my 2020 Land Rover Discovery 5. With the surrounding components cleared in Part 1, we can now remove the intercooler and supercharger itself—then take advantage of the access to service the supercharger while it’s out of the vehicle. In this episode, I replace the factory spring-style supercharger snout coupler with a solid Eaton-style coupler and change the supercharger oil. Despite this Discovery having only around 30,000 miles, the original coupler already had noticeable play and there was visible wear where the coupler contacts the snout shaft. With the replacement coupler installed, the play and rattling demonstrated in the video were eliminated. I also show the complete AJ126 supercharger removal process, including protecting the exposed intake ports, removing the upper coolant Y-pipe, releasing the supercharger belt, dealing with the rear wiring and brackets, disconnecting the throttle body and MAP sensor, and removing the supercharger from the engine. While this project is being performed on a Discovery 5, much of the supercharger work applies to other Jaguar Land Rover vehicles using the AJ126 3.0L Supercharged V6. Some applications, including certain Range Rover Sport and Jaguar models, have additional hardware such as the intake sound symposer that must be disconnected during removal. 🔧 In this episode: 🧊 Removing the supercharger intercooler 🛡️ Protecting the exposed engine intake ports 🔧 Removing the upper coolant Y-pipe ⚙️ Releasing the supercharger drive belt 🔌 Disconnecting the rear supercharger wiring and MAP sensor 🌬️ Removing the throttle body and supercharger assembly 🔍 Inspecting the factory supercharger snout coupler 🛠️ Opening and cleaning the supercharger snout ⚙️ Replacing the factory spring coupler with a solid coupler 🧴 Applying new flange sealant and following the factory tightening sequence 🛢️ Extracting and replacing the supercharger oil 📏 Measuring the extracted oil before refilling 🚙 Differences between Discovery 5 and other JLR AJ126 applications ➡️ Setting up Part 3: cooling-system component replacement With the supercharger serviced and out of the way, Part 3 moves into the main cooling-system work: replacing the rear crossover pipe, thermostat housing, water pump and water-pump pipe, along with the associated coolant hoses and other components. ℹ️ Parts & Tools Used for This Project Parts: Upper and lower crossover pipe P/Ns: LR186859, LR186917 - Use genuine if you can afford it!
