Rain Changed My Plein Air Painting! 🌧️🎨

In this video, I’m painting at Paradox Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York when the rain moves in and changes the entire plan! 🌧️ I start the painting on location using my simple four-step approach, then pack up when the weather gets too rough and finish it later in my studio. Along the way, I talk about: • simplifying big shapes • finding the darkest darks and lightest lights • working quickly when conditions change • painting reflections and distant mountains • keeping a plein air painting from becoming overworked in the studio I also share a little bit of the history of Paradox Lake and how this quiet Adirondack spot got its unusual name. This painting wasn’t about perfection. It was about adapting, staying focused, and coming home with something that still captured the feeling of the day.
