A teacher designs an activity with AI. The students complete it with AI. The teacher grades it, also with AI.
What place is left for the human when machines talk to each other and people only pass along the results?
In this episode, Rafael Martínez Campoblanco, Vice Rector of Online Education at Universidad Espíritu Santo (Ecuador), explains why banning AI was not the way forward, why the real institutional taboo is how to finance it, and why the core question in education is no longer "for what" we educate, but "for whom".
In this conversation, we explore:
Why only 1 in 5 institutions has a formal AI strategy, according to the UNESCO report cited in the episode
The financing taboo: when the debate moves from opportunity to cost
When the human becomes an accessory, and how to prevent it
Transnational education: what it means today and which competencies it demands from a global graduate
From "for what" to "for whom": personalized education at scale
