Bungamati, renowned as the residence of Goddess Manakamana, holds a unique connection to the popular belief that places Manakamana in the Gorkha district. Contrary to this misconception, the original Manakamana is situated in Bungamati. Legend has it that the Goddess's upper body, above the navel, resides in Bungamati, while the lower part, below the navel, is in Gorkha. The Manakamana Jatra, a significant festival in Bungamati, takes center stage during October, coinciding with Navami, Dashami, and Ekadashi of the Dashain festival.
