From 1981 to 2025, Ladakh remembers martyrs of rights movements

Leh observed a complete shutdown on September 24 to mark the first anniversary of the 2025 violence in which four youths were killed. People across Ladakh paid tribute to the martyrs and remembered their sacrifices. The occasion also honoured earlier martyrs of Ladakh’s rights movements, including those who lost their lives during agitations for Union Territory and Scheduled Tribe status. Their sacrifices continue to be remembered as part of Ladakh’s long struggle for its rights and aspirations.
