★ The story goes that there was a café in the llanos built too close to the freight line - close enough that the cups moved on the tables when a train came through. The owner's brother played arpa llanera there, and after a few years of getting drowned out he stopped fighting it. He learned the schedule. The 4:40 came through in something near A minor if the cars were loaded, a little higher if they were empty, and he'd tune the harp to whatever was coming and let the train play the bottom half of the song. Regulars started arriving late in the afternoon on purpose. The recordings that survive are all cassette, all hiss, and you can hear the train every time - nobody thought to wait it out, because the train was the point. That's the room this track is trying to sit in. Dusty tape warmth, harp drifting over an understated groove, electric guitar that never raises its voice, and an old singer who sounds like he's been up since the night before and isn't in a hurry about anything.
