What JUST HAPPENED in Eala vs Garland?! The Crowd Left SPEECHLESS After This EPIC Finish!

Two warriors entered the Dubai Duty Open semifinal and only one walked out a legend. Alexandra Eala, the 20-year-old lefty ranked 81st, stunned fourth-seeded Megan Garland in a three-set masterpiece that left 9,200 fans breathless inside a closed-roof arena. In this WTA 1000 hard-court thriller, Eala saved four match points earlier in the tournament and then out-thought a former junior world number two riding a nine-match win streak. The tactical key? A high, heavy forehand to Garland's flat backhand, used just eleven times in set one, then forty-three times from three-all in the second. Garland's backhand errors exploded from four to seventeen to nineteen. Eala's second-serve points jumped eighteen percentage points after coach Mateo Salazar's one-line note. Final score drama aside, the numbers tell the story: eleven break points against, three converted, and still a win. Eala rose from 81st to a projected 64th, her highest ranking ever, reaching her first career final at this level. Garland admitted, "She made me play a version of this match I did not prepare for." The rematch looms in three weeks. And Eala kept the final match ball, adding it to her season-long collection.
