Wild AZ – wildlife stories from A to Z. The river is dying. And in its last muddy pool lies an old crocodile who hasn't eaten in months.
In the northwest of Tanzania's Serengeti, the Grumeti River becomes one of the most dangerous rivers on Earth when the great migration passes through. But when the herds move on and the rains stop, the feast becomes a famine. This is the story of Mzee, an old Nile crocodile, and the longest dry season of his life.
Follow him as the river breaks into shrinking pools, as hippos take over his water, as lions hunt the dry riverbed at night, and as a younger rival comes to take everything he has left. Then comes the last waterhole for miles — where every animal must drink, and one strike decides whether he survives.
