A nameless Ranger walking the rugged, wind-scoured wilds of the North, decades spent in exile, and the quiet burden of an ancient crown carried in silence... To me, Aragorn’s journey has never been just about reclaiming a throne; it is the ultimate story of enduring patience, battling self-doubt, and rising to meet a destiny long deferred. Bilbo Baggins’ timeless lines—"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost"—became the beating heart of this composition.
Scoring the reforging of the blade that was broken into Andúril and the rise of King Elessar, I chose to compose and sing this piece entirely in Tolkien’s High-Elven tongue, Quenya ("Ilya laurë lá siluva, Ú ilyë ranyar vanenen"). Through noble orchestral swells, mournful solo strings that give way to triumphant choirs, I wanted to trace the road from lonely wilderness campfires to the blooming of the White Tree. My hope is that as you listen, you can feel that ancient fire rekindling from the ashes.
How did Aragorn’s destiny and this journey to the throne resonate with you? I’d love to read your reflections in the comments below!
