The Harlem Renaissance: How Mase & Cam’ron Put Harlem Back on Top Before Mase and Cam’ron became hip-hop superstars, they were childhood friends and basketball teammates with dreams of escaping the streets of Harlem. Alongside Big L, Bloodshed, Herb McGruff and producer Digga, they became part of the legendary Harlem rap collective Children of the Corn. But after tragedy ended the group, Ma$e and Cam’ron followed separate paths toward hip-hop greatness. Mase became one of the biggest stars of Bad Boy Records, dominating the Billboard charts with Harlem World and hits including “Feel So Good,” “What You Want” and “Lookin’ at Me.” Cam’ron created his own movement through Come Home with Me, Purple Haze and the rise of the Diplomats—better known as Dipset. Their journey included platinum albums, Billboard hits, personal losses, industry conflicts and a long-running feud that nearly destroyed their friendship. Decades later, Ma$e and Cam’ron finally reconciled and transformed their childhood chemistry into the successful sports show It Is What It Is. This documentary explores the rise, rivalry, reunion and lasting legacy of two friends who helped put Harlem back at the center of hip-hop.
