#32 Black Cat 2-1, A Bond Forged in Huey's: The Bob Ford Story

Black Cat 2-1: A Bond Forged in Hueys — The Bob Ford Story More than 1,000 combat missions, countless lives impacted, and a brotherhood that has lasted nearly 60 years. In this episode of Oklahoma Echoes, we sit down with Captain Bob Ford, Vietnam veteran, UH-1 Huey pilot, Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame inductee, and author of Black Cat 2-1. Serving with the 282nd Assault Helicopter Company from 1967 to 1968, Bob commanded a small helicopter detachment operating out of Huế, Vietnam. Flying low, fast, and often on single-helicopter missions, Bob and his crews supported special operations, delivered critical supplies, evacuated wounded soldiers, and recovered the fallen. From the Tet Offensive to defending the MACV compound during the Battle of Huế, Bob shares the dangers of combat aviation, the sacrifices of his fellow aviators, and the unbreakable bonds forged in war. We also honor two of his fallen brothers, Warrant Officers Gerald McKinsey Jr. and Dwight Dedrick, whose sacrifices will never be forgotten. This is more than a story about flying helicopters in Vietnam. It's a story of courage, sacrifice, survival, and a brotherhood that transcends generations. #OklahomaEchoes #BlackCat21 #BobFord #VietnamWar #HueyHelicopter #VietnamVeterans #MilitaryHistory #VeteranStories Made this video with Movavi.
