In 1765, ten years before events unfolded in Massachusetts and the ‘Shot Heard Round the World,” a group of settlers in Pennsylvania’s south central frontier rose up against British Military rule and their policies towards the Native American peoples to the west. The events that unfolded at and near Fort Loudoun Pennsylvania went on to help shape how the region would respond as events unfolded in Massachusetts and across the colonies, 10-years later.
This video is part of a joint project celebrating the local history of Pennsylvania's South Central (Middle) Frontier for the America 250 anniversary celebration. The project is a collaboration between the New Oxford Area Historical Society and Community Media of South Central PA, in partnership with history experts from across the region.
This America 250 project is made possible by a generous grant by The Robert C. Hoffman Charitable Endowment Trust, and donations by members, supporters and viewers like you. Thank-you.
This video was filmed on location at the historic Fort Loudoun Pennsylvania in partnership with the Fort Loudoun Historical Society, Fort Loudon, PA (https://www.fortloudounpa.com/) and special thanks are extended to Society President, Michael Strausner.
