Welcome to Episode 51 of Crystals on the Beach 💜🌊🐾
🌊 Charleston Beach —
Southern Oregon Coast 🌊
Join Bernie, Charky, and me as we explore Charleston Beach
on an overcast evening along the Southern Oregon Coast. 🐾🌊📷
Tonight's adventure begins at the Bastendorff Beach jetty,
where we start in the parking area and follow alongside the jetty before
continuing through the coastal forest toward the ocean.
The shoreline doesn't appear until we've made our way through
the trees, and once we finally reach the beach, the journey turns south
along the water. 🌊🌲
The evening becomes a slow exploration of the coastline, with
still photography capturing the details that catch my eye along the way.
There are plenty of things to discover:
🪨 The Bastendorff Beach
jetty
🌲 Coastal forest and
shoreline trails
🌼 Yellow coastal
flowers
🏖️ Sand patterns and
textures
🪵 Interesting driftwood
🪨 Textured rocks and
macro photography
🪸 Barnacles covering the
jetty rocks
🦀 A crab leg along the
shoreline
🐚 Shells and small
coastal discoveries
🪼 A jellyfish washed up
on the beach
📷 Coastal landscape
photography
🔭 Zoomed-in views of the
lighthouse to the south
🚢 A ship offshore and the
sounds of the working harbor
🌊 The Coos Bay river and
jetty
🪨 Caves in the coastal
cliffs
As we reach the shoreline, we begin walking south and spend
the evening following the beach and photographing the changing landscape.
Around the halfway point, we turn around and begin walking north
again.
Eventually, we angle back toward the parking area, where the river and
jetty come into view once more.
Throughout the episode, the sound of a ship's horn can be heard
periodically from the harbor, becoming a recurring part of the quiet coastal
evening. 🚢🌊
The light also continues to fade as the evening progresses.
By the end of the journey, it is almost dark, giving the final portion
of the walk a very different feeling from the shoreline we first encountered.
Throughout the episode, beach facts explore the Bastendorff Beach
jetty, coastal forests, rocky shoreline habitat, barnacles, shells, crabs,
Charleston's working harbor, ship navigation, the Coos Bay entrance, and
Oregon's public beaches.
🗺️ Geographic map and
satellite views of today's filming location appear near the end of the episode
for viewers wishing to explore where today's journey takes place.

💜 Thank you for being
here and for joining us for another evening along the Oregon Coast.
Not every coastal adventure happens beneath a dramatic sunset.
Sometimes the sky is overcast, the light slowly disappears, and the
small details along the shoreline become the things worth remembering. 🌊🐾📷
