Welcome to Episode 49 of Crystals on the Beach 💜🌊🐾 🌊 Sunset Bay Beach — Southern Oregon Coast 🌊 Join Bernie, Charky, and me as we explore Sunset Bay Beach near Coos Bay on a warm, overcast evening as the sun begins to settle toward the horizon. 🐾🌊📷 This evening's adventure begins at the middle parking area, where we descend to the beach and head south toward the cliffs before following the shoreline around the inside of the bay. 🌊 The tide is low, and that makes this evening especially interesting. As the water pulls away from the shoreline, an entirely different side of Sunset Bay becomes visible—exposed rocks, tidepools, marine life, plant life, unusual textures, sand patterns, and areas of the beach that would normally be underwater. 🌊🪨 Throughout the walk, still photography captures the bay from multiple directions, the towering cliffs from below and above, interesting driftwood and entire logs, moss-covered rocks, colorful leaves, unusual beach stones, and the many small details revealed by the falling tide. 📷🌿🪨 One of the highlights is a series of close-up views of sea anemones in the tidepools along the north cliff, where the low tide allows us to see these fascinating animals up close. 🌊🪸📷 There are plenty of other little discoveries along the way too—a dead crab on the sand, a seagull at the water's edge, sand patterns left behind as the water recedes, a sand castle and its tiny moat, and even a macro look at the different colors and textures within the sand itself. After reaching the north parking area, we turn around and begin making our way back toward the middle parking area before returning once more to the shoreline and continuing south. Eventually we reach the southern parking area and then make our final return to the middle lot, where a few last photographs and video clips are captured before the evening comes to an end.
