This is the second video in my three-part series. The first one was the repetition method, the one I use to stay lean year round. Today is the other side: what I'd do if building muscle was the only goal. Science based, no guesswork, nothing to buy.
I'll say it clearly. This is not how I train today. It's how I would train if muscle was the one thing I cared about.
Here's the problem with most bodybuilding training. It's designed for aggressive phases, not for a life with a job and a family and limited time. Aggressive systems don't age well, because they need constant motivation, constant adjustment and a constant mental grind. That's not a training problem. That's a design problem.
So the question I kept coming back to was simple: what's the minimum effective dose? The smallest structure that still builds muscle, without demanding your entire life.
The answer is the 2-5-15 rule.
Two: train each muscle twice a week. Your body adapts best to regular, repeatable signals.
Five: maximum five hard sets per muscle group, per session. Intense enough is enough. Beyond that, you're just accumulating fatigue.
Fifteen: keep your working sets per session between ten and fifteen. That's four or five movements, two to five sets each. Usually 45 to 60 minutes.
More sets don't make a system better. They make it fragile. The system stays intact while life doesn't, because it doesn't depend on motivation. It depends on structure.
You don't need my exercises. You need a framework. Put push-ups, pull-ups, dips and squats into these numbers, track what you did, and beat it slightly next time.
What's in this video:
Why most calisthenics muscle programs fail after six weeks
The 2-5-15 rule explained in plain numbers
How many hard sets per muscle group actually build muscle
Why more volume just creates fatigue you can't recover from
How to build a full body calisthenics session in 45 minutes
How to progress without a gym, a bench or a barbell
Why a boundary system beats a training program for busy men
This is calisthenics training for men over 40 with a job and a family. No commute, no membership, no machine. A bar, the floor and your own bodyweight are enough. If you have parallettes or a band at home, even better.
It's built for the man who has bought programs before and quit them all, and for the man who thinks bodyweight training can't build muscle. It can. It just needs the right numbers.
