We're pulling our daughter out of school.
Not because of a bad teacher or a bad year — because the whole structure stopped making sense for our family.
Eight hours a day, five days a week, with most of her waking weekday hours spent away from us — and so much of our family life squeezed into evenings and crowded weekends. Once I started looking at it that way, I couldn't unsee it.
I spent years running a Montessori classroom out of my own basement. Now we're considering what it would look like to take everything I've learned and use it to build an education around our own daughter and the life we actually want as a family.
And we're walking away from a lot to try it: a private Montessori school we love, a spot we may never get back, and a scholarship that recently made staying much more affordable.
This is Day 7 of posting every day for 100 days as I document our journey out of hustle culture and toward a slower life in Vietnam — as a late-diagnosed autistic mom figuring out how to build a life that actually fits the way our brains work.
