I was diagnosed autistic at 33. Four years later, I'm significantly better — but my capacity is still limited, and it doesn't take much to slide back toward burnout.
This is the origin story: what severe autistic burnout actually felt like, how diagnosis finally gave me language for a lifetime of experiences I never understood, and why that's the real reason we're moving to Vietnam. Not a cure. Not an escape from who I am. An experiment — can a lower cost of living buy back enough time and capacity for me to actually live my life, instead of just surviving it?
This is Day 11 of posting every day for 100 days as I document our family's journey out of hustle culture and into a slower life in Vietnam — as a late-diagnosed autistic mom figuring out how to build a life that actually fits how our brains work.
