Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - Episode 21 - Escape from the Planar Prison

The journey beyond the planar conduit takes Gash Kadan and his companions into one of the most dangerous places they have encountered yet. The Planar Prison is a realm of captivity and suffering, where escaped prisoners have little hope of freedom and every captive is bound by magical force. With Raelis Shai and the theatre troupe still imprisoned, the Bhaalspawn must fight his way through the fortress and bring them home. Knowing that danger awaits beyond the portal, the party prepares with powerful protective spells before stepping into the unknown. Their caution proves wise. Aawill, commander of the bounty hunters, seals the portal behind them and attempts to make the adventurers prisoners alongside the countless thralls already enslaved within the fortress. After defeating the first guards, the party encounters Tagget, an escaped gnome who reveals the horrifying truth behind the prison. Magical collars control the captives, with an infernal artefact maintaining the enchantments that keep them obedient. To escape, the Bhaalspawn must choose between striking directly at the Cambion Warden or taking the longer path through the prison's western barracks. The party chooses freedom over the easy road. Their assault leads them through brutal encounters with elite thralls, heavily armed knights and terrifying demons. Even the Warden's monstrous wyvern stands in their path, forcing the adventurers into another hard-fought battle. The deeper they venture, the clearer it becomes that the prison's power depends upon keeping its captives divided and afraid. Eventually, the party reaches the Master of Thralls. The confrontation is fierce, but victory allows the Bhaalspawn to destroy the enchanted control stone responsible for maintaining the collars. The spell breaks, and the prisoners are finally given the chance to turn against the masters who held them captive. The rebellion sets the stage for the final confrontation with the Cambion Warden. Surrounded by freed thralls and supported by his companions, Gash Kadan takes the fight directly to the prison's ruler. After one of the toughest battles of the journey so far, the Warden is defeated and the Planar Prison's reign of terror finally comes to an end. Tagget rewards the party with the Wave Shaft, a legendary component needed to forge the powerful Wave Halberd. More importantly, Haer'Dalis, Raelis Shai and the imprisoned actors are finally free. Back in Athkatla, the party takes the opportunity to strengthen their equipment before returning to the Planar Sphere. But Gash Kadan's new stronghold has problems of its own. Three apprentice mages are waiting to study under him, and their first magical assignment is anything but simple. They must attempt to create a Ring of Protection, beginning a new chapter in the development of the Planar Sphere.
