Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Singers

Conductor: Mr. Joel Duarte & Alexis Galindo Collaborative Pianist: Dr. Yeo-Hun Chun Location of performance: First United Methodist Church- Grand Prairie, Texas Choir Biography: Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Vocal Music Strand 6-12th Grades. The Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Vocal Music strand comprises advanced 6-12th grade vocalists who are highly trained for their age. Students learn sight-reading and various genres and styles of choral literature, including classical, opera, musical theater, contemporary, and pop. In just eleven short years, GPFAA Vocal has exploded with energy and talent. It has nurtured many young singing and music educators' lives and is considered among the best in Texas and the nation. In 2024, the HS Treble performed in Denver, CO, at the SWACDA conference, making this GPFAA Vocal's 6th invitational in five years. Other invitationals include: 2023 ACDA in Cincinnati, OH (HS Tenor-Bass), 2023 TMEA in San Antonio, TX (MS Tenor-Bass), 2020 SWACDA in Little Rock, AR (HS Mixed), 2019 ACDA in Kansas City, MO (HS Treble), and 2019 TMEA in San Antonio, TX (HS Mixed). GPFAA Vocal middle and high school programs have won numerous awards and distinctions. Recent national awards include the Mark of Excellence (multiple years), the American Prize (multiple years), and a 2021 GRAMMY Museum Signature Schools Enterprise Award. At the state level, students place annually in TMEA All-State Choirs. Regionally, GPFAA choirs earn Sweepstakes consistently at UIL contests. Joel Duarte, high school director, and Alexis Galindo, middle school director, team up together to lead the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy Vocal Music strand. They are honored to teach this group of smart, driven, and exceedingly kind students who are passionate about music and singing.
