Fix the Franchise: Colorado Rockies

The 2026 Colorado Rockies had a top-seven offense in MLB, the worst pitching staff in baseball, and a fan base that keeps shrinking at Coors Field. In the first episode of Fix the Franchise, a new series on The Middle, I grade year one of Paul DePodesta’s rebuild, name the three clocks running in Denver, and lay out six ways the business side of the franchise can win fans back... and maybe, set the team up for its next World Series run. Every sports fan has watched their team fall apart and thought: I could fix this. I’m saying it out loud. Each week I pick one professional or collegiate franchise, pull the receipts, and grade what's working, what’s broken, and what they can do to fix it.
