📖 About Surah Al-Ma'arij (From Kanzul Iman Commentary)
Surah Al-Ma'arij consists of 44 verses and was revealed in Makkah. In the classical commentary framework of Kanzul Iman, this Surah serves as a powerful address regarding the certainty of the final reckoning and the supreme elevation of the pathways through which angels ascend to the heavens. The word Al-Ma'arij refers to "The Ways of Ascent" or "The Stairways" belonging to Allah, emphasizing His absolute majesty and high status.
According to the commentary, Kanzul Iman deeply highlights the divine standard of time, noting that the angels and the trustworthy Spirit (Angel Jibril A.S.) ascend to Him on a Day whose length equates to fifty thousand years—a reality that the disbelievers see as far off, but which Allah views as profoundly near. The commentary beautifully illuminates the golden command given to the Prophet ﷺ: "So be patient with a beautiful patience" (Sabran Jamila), a patience completely devoid of complaint or despair. The text transitions into a deep psychological evaluation of human nature, explaining that man is naturally created anxious and impatient—impatient when touched by hardship and tight-fisted when touched by good fortune. However, Kanzul Iman beautifully distinguishes the true servants of Allah from this natural state, highlighting those who are constant in their daily prayers, give a recognized right of their wealth to the poor, testify to the truth, and meticulously safeguard their trusts and covenants.
