OCTOBER NIGHT SKY 2026: Saturn Opposition, Meteor shower in Orion & Deep sky for Mid-Autumn nights

October puts us right in the middle of Autumn, and we can see the great square of Pegasus begin to take hold of its familiar southern position for the coming months. Even thought Summer is well behind us we still have the summer triangle on show to the west and the winter constellations rising in the east after midnight. The outer planets dominate the late night and with Saturn at Opposition and Jupiter returning in preparation for a later winter display with Mars. Saturn is the ‘star’ of this months night sky reaching Opposition on the 6th. It is beginning to reveal its rings again which makes for one of the most spectacular sights through the eyepiece for beginners and seasoned aficionados. I hope that these videos can give you an idea of how the night sky can look at the eyepiece of a 200 PDS, 200p, 300p flextube or any 200mm 8 inch or 300mm 12 inch reflector telescope and using a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. I find when trying to purchase a telescope, it is hard to find out what you can see through the eyepiece . ---------------------------Contents----------------------------------- 0:00 INTRO 1:07 OCTOBER: SOLAR SYSTEM 0:59 Moon 2:53 Orionids 3:28 Asteroids 5:32 Mercury 4:48 Venus 3:57 Mars 6:18 Jupiter 7:05 Saturn 8:07 Uranus 8:57 Neptune 9:18 OCTOBER : DEEP SKY 9:28 NGC 891 Sliver Sliver Galaxy 11:14 NGC 898 11:37 Messier 34 12:34 Algol Beta Persei 13:14 Double Cluster Perseus 15:15 Messier 76 Little Dumbbell 16:40 Messier 33Triangulum Galaxy 18:03 NGC 604 18:34 NGC 2403 Little Triangulum 19:37 NGC 2404 20:53 NGC 7662 Blue Snowball Nebula 22:13 NGC 7640 spiral Galaxy 24:13 OCTOBER : DEEP SKY CHALLENGE 24:34 NGC 6905 Blue Flash Nebula 26:28 NGC 6934 Globular Cluster 27:59 Caldwell Catalogue ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 61 Cygni Proper motion source wikipedia -Author IndividusObservantis Solar /lunar eclipse data and images source - www.timeanddate.com ***Not affiliate links Just a link to the specs of the stuff I use :) *** EQUIPMENT ► SKYWATCHER 200PDS - https://ktectelescopes.ie/collections...
