Jarasandha, the mighty king of Magadha, was born in two separate halves that were joined together by a demoness named Jara. Endowed with immense strength and blessed by Lord Shiva, he conquered countless kingdoms and imprisoned ninety-nine kings with the sinister intention of sacrificing them. To establish Dharma and facilitate Yudhishthira's Rajasuya sacrifice, Lord Krishna devised a brilliant plan. Disguised as Brahmins, Krishna, Bhima, and Arjuna arrived at Jarasandha's court and challenged him to a wrestling duel. A fierce wrestling match ensued between Bhima and Jarasandha. Every time Bhima tore Jarasandha’s body in two, the pieces miraculously rejoined. Observing this, Lord Krishna subtly picked up a blade of grass, split it down the middle, and tossed the two halves in opposite, reversed directions. Understanding the divine cue, Bhima tore Jarasandha in half once more and hurled the left piece to the right and the right piece to the left, preventing them from joining again and ending the tyrant's reign.
