UPDATE: Ugandans who use and earn from Charcoal are wondering what to do next after police issued a last warning to all those involved in burning, selling, transporting and using local charcoal across the country. During a press briefing, the police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said anyone found engaging in the charcoal business will be arrested and taken to court — even a person found transporting just one sack of charcoal for cooking without permission in his car, on bicycle or motorcycle will be impounded by police. According to police, the directive was passed by President Museveni years back which is aimed at protecting the environment and curbing massive deforestation so all Ugandans have been advised to start using gas, electricity or other modern forms of cooking.
