Only You

ONLY YOU — an original song by Gert Marx about attraction, desire and losing your train of thought, set to a dramatic tango rhythm. “Brain not working. Words won’t come.” Sometimes attraction leaves us with plenty to feel and very little to say. Only You turns that experience into a playful chorus of “Da da da da. Ba ba ba ba. Lu lu lu lu—Only you.” Inspired by a documentary about the evolution of the brain, the song connects ancient biology with a familiar experience: our capacity to think is extraordinary, yet desire can leave us struggling to think clearly at all. Between firing neurons, cracked armour and a heart worn around someone else’s neck, one question remains: “Who’s driving whom?” Have you ever been so drawn to someone that words simply disappeared?
