DAY 4 of our Maryland-to-Idaho road trip—and today we finally make it to our destination state! We left beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and continued west toward Nampa, Idaho. After everything we experienced on Day 3 at Yellowstone, Old Faithful and our unexpected bison roadblock, you might think Day 4 would be a little calmer. Yeah...not exactly. 😂 We encountered some CRAZY winds along the way, which definitely made driving the Chrysler Pacifica interesting as we continued across Wyoming and into Idaho. But one of the coolest surprises of the entire trip was a stop at a place with a name you don't exactly forget: MASSACRE ROCKS STATE PARK. Located along the Snake River, Massacre Rocks has some incredible scenery, Oregon Trail history and fascinating geology. The landscape was shaped in part by the prehistoric Bonneville Flood, when water from ancient Lake Bonneville broke through Red Rock Pass and surged through the Snake River Plain. According to Idaho Parks and Recreation, the flow was temporarily about four times that of the Amazon River, and they describe it as the second-largest flood in the geologic history of the world. Idaho Parks and Recreation You can still see evidence of that enormous event in the massive rocks and landscape today. The park also contains remnants of the Oregon Trail, and nearby Register Rock preserves names carved by emigrants traveling west. Idaho Parks and Recreation Pretty wild to think that we're making our own journey west while stopping at a place where travelers were making that same general journey more than a century ago—under VERY different circumstances! From Jackson Hole to Massacre Rocks and finally Nampa, Idaho, Day 4 gave us wind, history, geology and some scenery I wasn't expecting. And after four days on the road... WE MADE IT TO IDAHO! If you've been following the entire Maryland-to-Idaho series, hit that LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE because the adventure isn't finished yet. And let me know in the comments: Had you ever heard of Massacre Rocks State Park or the Bonneville Flood before this video? #MassacreRocks #Idaho #RoadTrip #MarylandToIdaho #JacksonHole #NampaIdaho #IdahoRoadTrip #BonnevilleFlood #SnakeRiver #OregonTrail #TravelVlog
