The stock market witnessed a significant decline once again today. This drop is particularly notable because the Sensex had opened with a gain of 600 points but eventually closed with a loss of over 777 points; it fell 1,400 points from its intraday high. The 30-share Sensex index plunged 1.04%—or 777.94 points—to close in the red at 74,003.82. Meanwhile, the 50-share Nifty tumbled 1.19%—or 279.50 points—to close at 23,118.60. Investors lost approximately ₹9 lakh crore in this market downturn. The total market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE dropped by more than ₹9 lakh crore, falling to ₹472 lakh crore.
